Who We Are - Our History

In the company’s early years, H.F. Wiley, Sr. started the company at 206 East Monroe. In 1958, the business was incorporated as Wiley Office Equipment Company under the management of H.W. Wiley Jr. after his return to Springfield after serving as a Navy aviation hero in World War II and the Korean War.

In 1963, Ray Hoffman became an associate with H.W. Wiley Jr, after many years of experience in the office furniture industry. A new showroom and warehouse was built in 1965 at 301 East Laurel and remains the present location of Wiley Office Furniture today.

Wiley Office began its operations by selling metal office furniture and business equipment. In 1968, we became a dealership with Herman Miller. Wiley Office Furniture was one of the first dealerships in the country to design and install offices with the Herman Miller Action Office system, the first “cubicle” workstation systems product line. Over our decades of operations, we have expanded our operations to cover over 200 different product lines, encompassing all types of office furniture and related accessories, as well as a wide range of services.

In 2003, Diane Beauchamp and Zachary Hoffman joined Ken Hoffman as owners in the company. We are continuing the long and successful tradition of representing Herman Miller, Geiger, Kimball and National in Central Illinois. We are also an OFUSA franchise, which has an expansive catalog of quality office furniture for both home and business that is both affordable and available quickly. These product lines, along with the rest of our manufacturers and suppliers allow us to provide a wide range of furniture options for businesses of all sizes, non-profit companies and home office customers.

Wiley Office Furniture has offered value-added services (fully listed in the Our Services section) from the start of the company. We have expanded our service offerings to include a reupholstery shop, workstation refurbishment and commercial carpet and fabric cleaning. We can assist you in planning your project, designing your office space, delivering and installing your furniture and then offering a range of follow-up services to ensure your office furniture performs beyond your expectations.
